City of Moose Jaw Awarded for Geo­graphic In­for­ma­tion Sys­tem (GIS) Ex­cel­lence

On Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 26, 2018, Esri Canada pre­sented the City of Moose Jaw with an Award of Ex­cel­lence for its use of geo­graphic in­for­ma­tion sys­tem (GIS) tech­nol­ogy to stream­line their records, keep­ing them in line with fed­eral re­quire­ments and im­prov­ing ser­vice to the com­mu­nity.

Un­til a few years ago, the City of Moose Jaw kept in­fra­struc­ture re­place­ment and re­pair records, by city block, on recipe cards.

GIS was iden­ti­fied as the best so­lu­tion to im­prove in­for­ma­tion man­age­ment and since 2010 has been ex­panded to pro­vide ac­cess to GIS data across En­gi­neer­ing, Parks & Recre­ation, Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices, Plan­ning & Land Divi­sion and Pub­lic Works de­part­ments.

Esri Canada is the world’s lead­ing GIL soft­ware provider.

Bret Rowl­in­son is the GIS Su­per­vi­sor for the City of Moose Jaw and ac­cepted the award on the City’s be­half along with Di­rec­tor of IT Wade McKay.
