Moose Jaw monument tops internet searches in Canada
Mac the Moose trended number one nationally as the most searched roadside attraction, according to Google Trends statistics.
Over the last 12 months, Alex Hunnings Klein, Google Canada public affairs and communications representative, and her colleagues collected search data about road trips and roadside attractions.
“There are a couple of reasons why I think that could be,” said Hunnings Klein. “We like things that are Canadian and what is more Canadian than Mac the Moose?”
For all the most searched roadside attractions, there tends to either be a connection with the area or with Canadiana, she said. The Google Team not only looked nationally, but compared the data provincially. Mac the Moose, of course, trended the highest over Saskatchewan’s plethora of other giant monuments.
