Moose Jaw mon­u­ment tops in­ter­net searches in Canada

Mac the Moose trended num­ber one na­tion­ally as the most searched road­side at­trac­tion, ac­cord­ing to Google Trends sta­tis­tics.

Over the last 12 months, Alex Hun­nings Klein, Google Canada pub­lic af­fairs and com­mu­ni­ca­tions rep­re­sen­ta­tive, and her col­leagues col­lected search data about road trips and road­side at­trac­tions.

“There are a cou­ple of rea­sons why I think that could be,” said Hun­nings Klein. “We like things that are Cana­dian and what is more Cana­dian than Mac the Moose?”

For all the most searched road­side at­trac­tions, there tends to ei­ther be a con­nec­tion with the area or with Cana­di­ana, she said. The Google Team not only looked na­tion­ally, but com­pared the data provin­cially. Mac the Moose, of course, trended the high­est over Saskatchewan’s plethora of other gi­ant mon­u­ments.
