Saskatchewan load up with draft picks with NLL ex­pan­sion loom­ing

Orig­i­nally se­lected third over­all by Col­orado in the NLL draft in 2011, he went on to win Rookie of the Year hon­ours in 2012 as he led all rook­ies with 76 points.

“He per­formed at a high level for us, es­pe­cially in the play­offs,” Keenan said.

How­ever, with ru­mours swirling that the league will be adding teams for the 2018-2019 sea­son, grab­bing high draft picks has been of ut­most im­por­tance as teams could lose a num­ber of play­ers to an ex­pan­sion draft.

“With the core of our team hav­ing played in three con­sec­u­tive NLL cham­pi­onships, com­bined with our younger play­ers and these cher­ished first round picks, the fu­ture of the Rush looks as bright as ev­ery fu­elled by the youth and prom­ise of these fu­ture stars of the NLL,” Rush owner Bruce Ur­ban said in a state­ment.

The Saskatchewan Rush cur­rently hold the eighth over­all pick in this year’s NLL draft that takes place on Sept. 18 at the Toronto Rock Ath­letic Cen­tre in Oakville, Ont. The draft will be streamed live on nlltv. com.
