Man charged, ac­cused of threat­en­ing chil­dren with a broom han­dle

A man has been ac­cused of pos­ses­sion of a weapon dan­ger­ous to the pub­lic, along with re­sist­ing ar­rest, af­ter a se­ries of events in Moose Jaw last night. Po­lice re­sponded to an in­ci­dent in Smith Park in South Hill Thurs­day at about 10:30 p.m., af­ter a wit­ness had called about an al­ter­ca­tion there. Const. Kent We­strom of the Moose Jaw Po­lice Ser­vice told the Times-Her­ald a dis­pute be­tween one of the ac­cused’s fam­ily mem­bers and some other chil­dren took place. The man then al­legedly bran­dished a cut­off broom han­dle while con­fronting the chil­dren. The man was re­leased and will ap­pear in court at a later date.
