Born in the Ottawa area, Bruce and his wife still make their home there. Influenced by family members who farmed, he has always been interested in agriculture. He spent his adult life employed with the Canada Department of Agriculture, working with cytogenetics of cereal grains. Retired now, he still keeps up his interest in farming in the area. Bruce says despite the fact that you can’t “stop progress,” it saddens him to see many excellent farms on some of the best agricultural land in the area being taken over by new developments.
