Rooting for Fred

More of Our Canada - - Meeting Place - Sharon Rebidoux, Amherstburg, Ont.

I visit the Harrow Fair every year and have entered many of my sewing crafts over the years. It was so nice to see a two-page spread on last year’s Harrow Fair in the August-september 2017 issue, especially the photo of the man on the tractor. His name is Fred Pook, who is my sister’s father-inlaw. He just turned 96 in April! His family operated a John Deere dealership in Harrow for 57 years, closing it up in 2015. Last year was Fred’s 58th consecutive year driving a tractor in the parade. That tractor is the first new tractor he ever sold—he bought it back from the original owner many years ago. Fred’s big dream is to drive a tractor in the parade for 60 consecutive years, which would happen on Labour Day weekend of 2018. God willing, we’re all rooting for you, Fred!
