Who among men is not shy of perfection? Is Pope Francis not mere mortal or divine? For a man who takes up residence in a walled city that severely controls its immigration, it behooves him to castigate another man that merely requests for the means to enforce the existing laws of his country. For we are all hypocrites — the only thing that varies is the extent to which we take our own hypocrisy. Perhaps the aura of “papal deference” Fr. Raymond De Souza speaks of would best be embraced by an example of papal forgiveness by Pope Francis welcoming Donald Trump back into the fold of Christianity.
