NEXT- GEN HURACÁN TOUTED TO BE A PLUG-IN HYBRID

National Post (Latest Edition) - - POST DRIVING - Stanislav Nachev, Driving. ca

For 2022, the replacement for the next Lamborghini Huracán will be a plug-in hybrid. According to Autocar, Lamborghini is working on battery technology that will be lightweight and allow for electric-only mode. Lamborghini has been hesitant to adopt hybrid technology because of lack of performance and customer demand. However, the automaker has recently teamed up with MIT to improve battery technology. The new Aventador will keep its V12 engine, while the Huracán’s eventual replacement will be Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid sports car. In addition, the Urus SUV will launch with a hybrid powertrain later this year. While there are no details on the hybrid powertrain, we can rest assured that, per Lamborghini boss Stefano Domenicali, “there is still a lot of potential for the V12.”
