Re: NDP looks to thread a parliamentary needle, Sept. 29

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has never been more powerful since he decided to prop up the minority Trudeau government; the expression “spending like drunken sailor” — with no disrespect to the marine crowd — must have been taken from the NDP election platform. Now the Liberals have wily adopted Sing’s proposals for more sick leave benefits, which are actually a provincial matter, and a funding boost for those who have lost work. Singh is no fool, his party is financially in dire straits and might have trouble fielding a full slate of candidates when the next writ is dropped. However that power could be short-lived when the folks have a chance to cast their ballots down the road and remember that he was responsible for prolonging the life of a politically bankrupt regime.
