Good news for bargain hunters

Chatelaine’s finds new home on First avenue West

North Bay Nugget - - NEWS - Jennifer Hamilton-mccharles

Chatelaine’s bargains has found a new home.

the downtown business, which was due to close, is moving to 466 First ave. W., the former home of domstill bath and Light shop.

the move, scheduled to take place next month, followed notification in august by the north bay Fire department that Chatelaine’s needed to update the existing building’s sprinkler system at a cost of more than $30,000.

“We take over the new building at the end of october. We have to do some repainting and we expect to re-open by nov. 1,” says don Chatelaine, the owner of Chatelaine’s bargains.

the new building is about 2,000 square feet – 3,000 square feet less than the former location on main street West.

“the price was good and it’s across the street from an apartment building where a lot of my customers live. It’s only a fiveminute walk farther for those living at the empire Living Centre,” Chatelaine says.

“I expect to still see my regulars. We’ve been extremely busy, but we still have a lot of little stuff for sale.”

Chatelaine says he had two yard sales and still ended up taking three truckloads and a van full of stuff to Value Village.
