Congratulations widespread for Carlin

despite the many activities and events around the area last saturday, more than 120 people stopped by Callander to offer their congratulations to, and examine the local artwork of, david Carlin and his 50 years in the hole exhibit.
guests attended from the immediate area and from places such as London, Toronto, Chisholm, scarborough, Cobalt, Whitby, oshawa and aylmer, Que.
The alex dufresne gallery was packed by 2:15 pm, and during the opening remarks people continued to file in. Callander Coun. heather busch and mayor hector Lavigne were on hand to offer their congratulations, and Lavigne presented Carlin with a certificate of recognition on behalf of the municipality, thanking him for his promotion of the arts in Callander and congratulating him on this artistic milestone.
The show, 50 years in the making, is a look back at Carlin’s art which begins with many carbon pencil drawings and watercolours, and then transitions into mixed media, sculptures and paintings – many of which combine the three elements together – and concludes with three different video projections.
The exhibit will remain on display until Nov. 4 and current gallery hours are Thursday – saturday from 10-5 pm., Tuesdays and Wednesdays are available by appointment by calling ahead at 705-752-2282 ext. 502 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
