City man jailed for life
Serving sentence in U.S. for child’s rape, operating child porn site
A North Bay man who taught swimming and played trumpet in a local band is serving life behind bars in the U.S. for raping a fouryear-old girl and running a child porn site.
Benjamin Faulkner was arrested in October 2016 at a home in Montpelier Va., according to the Richmond Times Dispatch.
Faulkner and his business partner, Patrick Falte of Nashville, were sentenced to life on Sept. 15 in Richmond.
He is currently at the Federal Transfer Centre Oklahoma City. Prosecutors are preparing to bring Faulkner and Falte to court in Tennessee where they are accused of running the child porn site The GiftBox Exchange.
U.S. Homeland Security, as well as police in Europe, had been tracking Faulkner and Falte for some time.
The pair operated Child’s Play – the world’s biggest child sex website, according to the UK Daily Mail.
At its peak, Child’s Play had more than one million profiles and 4,000 of those were active users, including about 100 producers who raped children or filmed others doing so, according to The Daily Mail. The website also distributed photos and videos.
“Police waited months for the pair to meet, as they sometimes did, after Faulkner, 27, drove from North Bay to Manassas, VA, to meet 27-year-old Patrick Falte,” The Daily Mail states.
“There they raped a four-yearold provided by one of their users, who filmed the whole abuse as he had done on other occasions.”
According to The Times Dispatch, court documents indicate Falte made three trips and Faulkner made two trips to Virginia in 2015 and 2016 to sexually abuse the child.
The newspaper said the abuse was filmed on at least two of the trips and uploaded online.
“Faulkner and Falte groomed the child with pizza, ice cream and toys,” The Times Dispatch reported.
The Daily Mail said the pair gave up their user names, passwords and encryption keys to police at the time of their arrest. Faulkner’s user name was ‘War Head’.
The latest development in the case came this week when Verdens Gang (VG) AS of Norway reported that Child’s Play was being operated by undercover police in Queensland, Australia, in an attempt to catch more pedophiles.
Officers assumed the identities of Faulkner and Falte, VG reported.
The website has since been shut down.
