Training helicopter has ‘hard landing’
A training helicopter crash landed Tuesday at Jack Garland Airport. “Thankfully nobody was injured,” said Lavern Ross, manager at Essential Helicopters. He said students were participating in an emergency auto rotation and training exercise when they fell behind in their procedures. The exercise is used to simulate what happens when a helicopter’s engine fails and loses power. “They suffered a hard landing and caused considerable damage to the helicopter. It’s not flyable,” Ross said.
