Vol­un­teers to plant 500 new trees

an army of vol­un­teers will be work­ing to plant 500 new trees along the Chippewa Creek eco­path as part of the ninth an­nual Td Tree days, satur­day.

part of the com­mit­ment to plant a mil­lion trees by 2030, the vol­un­teer pro­gram brings to­gether more than 8,000 vol­un­teers at more than 100 sites across the coun­try.

The plant­ing in North bay will help pro­vide more tree cover for the city and to help re­duce runoff to Chippewa Creek.

Td em­ploy­ees, fam­i­lies, friends and com­mu­nity vol­un­teers will take part in the event to pro­tect, pre­serve and en­hance green spa­ces across the coun­try.

more than 35,000 trees will be planted across Canada this month and next as part of the pro­gram.

The Td Tree days is be­ing hosted by the North bay-mat­tawa Con­ser­va­tion author­ity. The author­ity has been plant­ing trees and restor­ing shore­lines within the wa­ter­shed over the past four years as part of the re­store your shore pro­gram.

all trees planted are na­tive tree species.
