Centre’s opening night finally arrives
Opening night is finally here and this is always cause for celebration.
On one hand, we have an entire community of entertainment enthusiasts who have heard us talk about nothing else besides our upcoming shows, the big-name bands, the emerging artists, the cultural performances.
On the other hand, we have an incredible staff team that has been working tirelessly on this season for well over a year, so it is very exciting to see it come to fruition and have the many different acts take the stage.
The process begins when offers are made to artists and then contracts are negotiated. Following that, sponsors are sought for individual performances, as well as capitol centre series, special events, etc.
At that point, we prepare our season brochure, house program and determine staff and volunteer schedules for the many events that are lined up.
Our technical team then needs to prepare stage plots that can accommodate multiple acts in a short period of time based upon their technical needs.
Once everything is ready to go, marketing efforts get underway and box office puts the shows on sale – and that’s where you come in. every show is a big production at the capitol centre both behind the scenes and the night of when the artist takes the stage. We are very fortunate to have such a strong staff and volunteer team making it a top-notch experience for our artists and for you.
We had a great concert with Gino Vannelli last week. This Friday, we will officially open the 2018-19 season with the one and only Jim cuddy. Tickets for this event are going quickly but there are still a few seats left for you and a couple friends.
We then launch into a busy month with cirque eloize on Oct. 16, derek edwards on Oct. 18, and Take It easy eagles Tribute on Oct. 19 just to name a few. Be sure to check out our website www.capitolcentre.org for a complete event listing or visit our facebook page www.facebook.com/capitolcentre for the October calendar.
We are also screening The children Act for this week’s sunday cinema on at 7 pm. Join us for a movie on the big screen for only $6. Tickets are available at the box office and both the bar and concession will be open to add to your movie experience. I’m sure it’s hard to miss the construction work in the back parking lot but the roof project is still underway so daytime building access (between 10 am and 5 pm) is restricted to the Main street entrance only. We will have both front and back doors open on show nights. Thank you for your patience and see you at the show!
