Multicultural centre celebrates 10 years
the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre will celebrate its 10th birthday on friday. an open house is scheduled from 2-4 pm with speeches and cake cutting at 2:30 pm. Speakers include MP anthony Rota, MPP Vic fedeli and Mayor al Mcdonald. the multicultural centre provides immigrant settlement services for newcomers from Parry Sound to temiskaming Shores. Its satellite office, the timmins & District Multicultural Centre, serves the area from Kirkland Lake to timmins and Cochrane. the centre also houses the Local Immigration Partnership (the North Bay Newcomer Network), an initiative dedicated to creating welcoming communities.
“We are so proud to have had the opportunity to serve this community for the past 10 years,” says executive director Deborah Robertson. “I am looking forward to seeing what the next 10 might bring.”
