Se­nior Barons cap­ture Nda ti­tle

The Al­go­nquin Barons se­nior girls bas­ket­ball team cap­tured the NDA ti­tle by de­feat­ing the Chippewa Raiders in the fi­nal. Game 1 was won on home court, with the Barons outscor­ing the Raiders 44-27 in front of an en­er­gized crowd. Brooke Shogren was the lead­ing scorer with 15 points. Game 2, played at Chippewa, saw the vis­it­ing squad win the cham­pi­onship with a score of 46-27. The lead­ing scorer in that game was Do­minique Bal­dasaro with 19 points.

‘This is a well-de­served win for a hard-work­ing team,” said head coach Lisa Hotte. “The girls trusted the process, put in the time and worked hard all sea­son.

“We are hop­ing for some con­tin­ued pos­i­tive re­sults as we travel to Sault Ste. Marie next week­end to com­pete at NOSSA.”

The Barons will host the OF­SAA cham­pi­onship Nov. 22-24.
