soup’s on winners announced
Joan Mcmeekin, a member of the Red Violets of North Bay which is part of the The Red Hat Society, enjoys a cup of homemade soup Friday during the annual Soup's On event at The Grande Event Centre. Proceeds will be donated to The Gathering Place, the city's soup kitchen, to allow it to continue serving 35,000 hot meals to neighbours in need throughout the year. The Gathering Place's creamy mushroom earned first place in the non-commercial category, followed by The Empire's roasted red pepper prosciutto and Chartwell Barclay House's corn chowder. Between the Bun's Philly steak potato bacon dill took the top spot in the commercial division, Terry's Place chicken fajita came in second and Cecil's bacon double cheeseburger beer soup was third.
