Karbouzi's story begins in Toronto 1970. Effie and Terry moved to a photography shop on Avenue Road, which they renovated and opened up as "City Burger Inn"- a diner style restaurant, which later became nicknamed "City Restaurant". The year 1992 brought major changes when the "boys", Jim and Nick, decided to revamp the family diner to a traditional Greek restaurant called Karbouzi (meaning “watermelon” in Greek)! With a mediterranean feel, colourful stucco walls and a brand new menu, the restaurant has come a long way since it’s roots, but the important things have always remained the same- the delicious home cooking and the warm, friendly atmosphere are what keeps the family tradition alive and the customers coming back for more! Now a staple on Avenue Road, Karbouzi is open for both lunch and dinner, boasting a menu filled with traditional Greek delicacies from Souvlaki to Moussaka to flaming Saganaki. And don’t forget to try our much loved Tzaziki! Also offering catering and large group reservations, Karbouzi’s hot & cold combination platters are sure to be a hit at your next event. Open Monday -Saturday 11:00am-10:00pm. For more information visit: www.karbouzi.com.
