Red Devils de­feat Tim­mins twice

KIRKLAND LAKE - The KLDCS Red Devils opened the NEOAA high school hockey sea­son on home ice with a pair of wins over Ecole Secondaire Catholique The­ri­ault Flames from Timmns.

In the opener the Red Devils were strong de­fen­sively and won 4-0. Max Witty scored a pair for the Devils. Cal­lum Sack­rider and Gary Des­jardins chipped in with a goal each. Sack­rider, Des­jardins and Matthew Chodori­wisky all had as­sists. Mike Spiller picked up the shutout. Braden Con­rad had a solid game on the blue line for the home side.

In the sec­ond game of the dou­ble header the Devils were strong on the power play in dous­ing the Flames 7-4. Cole Callin had a strong game scor­ing a hat trick and ad­ding three as­sists. Cal­lum Sack­rider picked up a pair. Max Witty and Jar­rett An­gelic­chio rounded out the scor­ing. An­gelic­chio’s marker was a high­light reel break­away goal. Witty also had a pair of as­sists with sin­gle as­sists to Garry Des­jardins, Robert Ek, Johnny Gib­son and Bryce Ged­des. Lo­gan Judd and Willy Hachey had solid ef­forts killing penal­ties for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils coach­ing staff was pleased with the two wins over the skilled and speedy Flames. They look for­ward to a bet­ter de­fen­sive ef­fort and im­proved po­si­tional play in up­com­ing games.

The Red Devils will next host Tim­mins High and Vo­ca­tional School Blues on a up­com­ing date to be an­nounced.
