Red Devils defeat Timmins twice
KIRKLAND LAKE - The KLDCS Red Devils opened the NEOAA high school hockey season on home ice with a pair of wins over Ecole Secondaire Catholique Theriault Flames from Timmns.
In the opener the Red Devils were strong defensively and won 4-0. Max Witty scored a pair for the Devils. Callum Sackrider and Gary Desjardins chipped in with a goal each. Sackrider, Desjardins and Matthew Chodoriwisky all had assists. Mike Spiller picked up the shutout. Braden Conrad had a solid game on the blue line for the home side.
In the second game of the double header the Devils were strong on the power play in dousing the Flames 7-4. Cole Callin had a strong game scoring a hat trick and adding three assists. Callum Sackrider picked up a pair. Max Witty and Jarrett Angelicchio rounded out the scoring. Angelicchio’s marker was a highlight reel breakaway goal. Witty also had a pair of assists with single assists to Garry Desjardins, Robert Ek, Johnny Gibson and Bryce Geddes. Logan Judd and Willy Hachey had solid efforts killing penalties for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils coaching staff was pleased with the two wins over the skilled and speedy Flames. They look forward to a better defensive effort and improved positional play in upcoming games.
The Red Devils will next host Timmins High and Vocational School Blues on a upcoming date to be announced.
