Amputee reminds everyone to ‘Play Safe’
As a Graduate of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program and a Safety Ambassador for the PLAYSAFE Program, I have met kids who have lost limbs in accidents that could have been prevented. With the weather warming up, it’s a good time to teach kids about the dangers that can come with summer, such as lawn mowers, boat motors and playing around water areas.
There are many ways accidents can happen, but by playing safely, many of them can be avoided. I encourage parents to take their children on a “safety walk” and point out the dangers in their area. These extra precautions can prevent the loss of a limb or other injuries.
It only takes a split second for an accident to happen, so let’s all play safe.
