Province supports tourism
The provincial government has announced the tourism organizations that will share in the $765,000 provided for in Budget 2016.
Go Western - Western Destination Management Organization will receive $150,000.
Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador will receive $115,000 in support of the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Board and $50,000 to support professional development initiatives in the tourism industry.
Legendary Coasts - Eastern Destination Management Organization, Adventure Central - Central Destination Management Organization and Destin- ation Labrador will each receive $150,000.
The province is also providing $144,000 in funding from the budget to festivals and events under its Season Extension Program.
The Trails, Tales and Tunes Festival in Norris Point and the Iceberg Festival in the St. Anthony area of the Northern Peninsula will each receive $12,500. The Songs, Stages and Seafood Festival on the Baccalieu Trail will receive $15,000.
The purpose of the Season Extension Program is to support the development of multiseason tourism products. More recipients will be announced in the fall and winter.
