Province sup­ports tourism

The pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment has an­nounced the tourism or­ga­ni­za­tions that will share in the $765,000 pro­vided for in Bud­get 2016.

Go West­ern - West­ern Des­ti­na­tion Man­age­ment Or­ga­ni­za­tion will re­ceive $150,000.

Hos­pi­tal­ity New­found­land and Labrador will re­ceive $115,000 in sup­port of the New­found­land and Labrador Tourism Board and $50,000 to sup­port pro­fes­sional devel­op­ment ini­tia­tives in the tourism in­dus­try.

Leg­endary Coasts - Eastern Des­ti­na­tion Man­age­ment Or­ga­ni­za­tion, Ad­ven­ture Cen­tral - Cen­tral Des­ti­na­tion Man­age­ment Or­ga­ni­za­tion and Destin- ation Labrador will each re­ceive $150,000.

The province is also pro­vid­ing $144,000 in fund­ing from the bud­get to fes­ti­vals and events un­der its Sea­son Ex­ten­sion Pro­gram.

The Trails, Tales and Tunes Fes­ti­val in Nor­ris Point and the Ice­berg Fes­ti­val in the St. An­thony area of the North­ern Penin­sula will each re­ceive $12,500. The Songs, Stages and Seafood Fes­ti­val on the Bac­calieu Trail will re­ceive $15,000.

The pur­pose of the Sea­son Ex­ten­sion Pro­gram is to sup­port the devel­op­ment of mul­ti­sea­son tourism prod­ucts. More re­cip­i­ents will be an­nounced in the fall and win­ter.
