Po­lice iden­tify woman’s re­mains as Pa­tri­cia Boyd

The Royal New­found­land Con­stab­u­lary con­firmed Thurs­day af­ter­noon that the woman’s re­mains lo­cated in a wooded area near Massey Drive on Satur­day are that of Pa­tri­cia Boyd.

Ms. Boyd, 56, had been re­ported miss­ing on May 27. She had been last seen on May 26, at 8:30 a.m., walk­ing east along the Trans-Canada High­way near Steady Brook.

Ef­forts to lo­cate her in­cluded an ex­ten­sive ground search of the area just off the high­way and on the north shore.

Her re­mains were found at about 1:15 p.m. Satur­day near Breeches Pond.

Of­fi­cers with the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Di­vi­sion and the Foren­sic Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion Di­vi­sion are con­tin­u­ing to work with the Of­fice of the Chief Med­i­cal Ex­am­iner to de­ter­mine the cause of death.
