Police identify woman’s remains as Patricia Boyd
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary confirmed Thursday afternoon that the woman’s remains located in a wooded area near Massey Drive on Saturday are that of Patricia Boyd.
Ms. Boyd, 56, had been reported missing on May 27. She had been last seen on May 26, at 8:30 a.m., walking east along the Trans-Canada Highway near Steady Brook.
Efforts to locate her included an extensive ground search of the area just off the highway and on the north shore.
Her remains were found at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday near Breeches Pond.
Officers with the Criminal Investigation Division and the Forensic Identification Division are continuing to work with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
