Hotel instead of hospital

Northern Pen - - EDITORIAL -

I was very alarmed to hear we are in danger of losing another doctor in St. Anthony. This doctor has been working at Labrador Grenfell Health for 10 years and was not given a reason why he was fired.

(The) St. Anthony mayor was also concerned about the difficulty the area has had to recruit doctors and spoke about administration concerns.

I would like to add my name to those asking for a review of Labrador Grenfell Health and rally strongly for a shakeup and change in administration.

My family has suffered great hardship due to a lack of a psychiatric care. The inadequate supervision and maintenance of my autistic son’s care has caused a serious decline in my own health. This unnecessary extra stress does not help with trying to find hope and a productive plan forward for my son.

Personally, I think cost is the big factor.

After hearing about the dismissal I contacted my MP Christopher Mitchelmore’s office. I left the following message, “If they continue to get rid of the doctors, they will be just running a very expensive hotel.”

My MP Christopher Mitchelmore got back to me very promptly and I will follow up on his suggestions.
