RCMP has confirmed that a 33-year-old woman is dead after a single-vehicle accident near Roddickton Tuesday evening, Oct. 2.

The Roddickton-Bide Arm RCMP detachment responded to the accident around 8 p.m.

Police say the vehicle had left an embankment on route 433 near the Conche turnoff.

Three people were aboard the vehicle when they arrived.

All three occupants were transported to the nearest medical clinic in Roddickton. Police say one of the occupants later succumbed to her injuries.

The two other patients were transferred to the hospital in St. Anthony. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The highway was closed for approximately 90 minutes Wednesday morning due to the accident.

Last week, an RCMP traffic analyst was on the scene to assist the local detachment in the investigation.

The investigation will include an examination of whether or not seat belts were worn.
