FIRST STEP CHARITY GALA
St. Anthony - First Step charity will hold its second annual Charity Gala at the Grenfell Interpretation Centre in St. Anthony. The event is First Step’s major yearly fund-raising event to advance access to health care by providing medical travel assistance to people living on the northern tip of Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula (NTNNP), a geographically isolated part of Newfoundland and Labrador. Last year’s gala raised over $6,000. This year’s gala will include a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, and a chance to enjoy the Grenfell Interpretation Centre while mingling with friends and discussing ways we can help people with their medical travel expenses. Everyone is invited to come and experience the joy of helping others. Ticket information will be available in October 2018. For more information you may visit https://www.firststepcharity.com.

TAKE POUNDS OFF SENSIBLY
St. Anthony - Every Thursday, from 5-6 p.m., the Take Off Pounds Sensibly weight loss support group meets at the Lions Club in St. Anthony. For information contact Elsie Slade at 709-454-2149.
Port Saunders - The town of Port Saunders in partnership with local RCMP are in the process of opening a new Youth Center in the Port Saunders Town Center (old Roncalli High). To alleviate costs associated with getting this “much needed” venture off the ground, they are looking for the support of surrounding communities in the form of material/financial donations as funding alone will not adequately cover all they would like to offer youth. Any material/financial donations will be graciously accepted. Thank you in advance for anything you may be able to assist with. Your support is greatly appreciated. Please contact them through Facebook page Port Saunders Youth Center or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
