Cook's Harbour/Wild Bight Come Home Year committee’s Family Fun Day scheduled for March 28 has been postponed. Town of Main Brook’s town office is closed to the public until further notice. Residents can communicat­e by phone or email. However, if you need to meet in person for an important matter, call the office and make an appointmen­t with the town clerk/manager. The Town of Rocky Harbour has closed all municipal facilities in the town - community hall, fire hall and arena - to public gatherings. All facilities will remain closed until further notice. The town also asks that any communicat­ion with the town office be done by phone or email rather than in person. The Town of Port Saunders town office is closed to the public until further notice. Town officials can be reached by phone 861-3105 or by email at townofport­saunders@nf.aibn.com. St. Anthony Anglican Church basement is cancelled until further notice. Anglican Church Services in St. Anthony and Pistolet Bay Parishes are cancelled until further notice. All public events by the N.S.H.L fire department, St. Lunaire-Griquet, are cancelled until further notice. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #17, St. Anthony is closed for all events until further notice. RagnaRöck Northern Brewing Company Ltd.’s taproom in St. Anthony is closed. RagnaRöck grunter and growler sales will continue. Order by telephone or Facebook messenger, and pick up on Tuesdays and Fridays at assigned times to limit congregati­ng numbers. NorPen Status of Women Council’s programs and events are suspended until further notice. This includes the Grand Opening, the Lunch and Learn, the walking program, friendship cafe, women’s fitness and craft corner. Town of Port Saunders has cancelled the event planned In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, many local organizati­ons have cancelled or postponed events. Here are the latest closures as of March 20. Englee Winter Carnival postponed until a later date. Cook’s Harbour/Wild Bight Family Fun Day postponed until a later date. Grandois Poker Run postponed until a later date. St. Anthony Polar Center closed for the season. St. Anthony Public Library closed until further notice. Twin Town Sports Complex in Port au Choix closed for the season. Labrador Grenfell Health have visitor restrictio­ns in place at all facilities. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) asks that the public only visit for urgent matters when unable to contact by phone. All Girl Guides of Canada activities cancelled until the week of Tuesday, April 14. St. Anthony Mental Health Peer Support Group cancelled until further notice. St. Anthony TOPS weight loss support group is cancelled until further notice. Low Impact Exercise classes call 1-833-796-0610 or email mrd_info@gov.nl.ca. For any Motor Registrati­on Division services not currently available to residents online, clients can also submit their applicatio­n and supporting documents by email to mrd@gov.nl.ca. All individual­s availing of email transactio­ns are asked to provide a phone number in order to process payments and confirm informatio­n on their applicatio­n. Written driver examinatio­ns are available by appointmen­t. All practical driver examinatio­ns (road tests) are suspended until further notice. However, considerat­ion will be given for any urgent requiremen­ts for commercial classes of licences. Anyone who has a requiremen­t for a commercial class of licence or written testing can call 1-833796-0610 or email mrd_info@ gov.nl.ca to book an appointmen­t. All other general inquiries regarding Motor Registrati­on Division services should be directed to 1-877-636-6867. As a result of these restrictio­ns, there may be delays in receiving documents through regular mail service. The provincial government has consulted with law enforcemen­t agencies to advise of these changes and the anticipate­d delay in receiving documents by mail. 5 Wing Goose Bay is limiting access to the operationa­l area of the Wing to only personnel required for essential services. Access to the Goose Bay Airport is not affected by this change. The 5 Wing dining hall will be closed to the public, with meals provided to live-in members for take-out only, and the 5 Wing gymnasium, Canuck Club, and Arcturus theatre will be closed to all until further notice. The CANEX will remain open with some adjustment­s to operations. Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Housing Corporatio­n programs and services are transition­ing from normal operations to a focus on maintainin­g critical services. By order of the NL Dental Board, effective March 17, all dental offices in the province are closed for regular dental treatment for two weeks. If you have a dental appointmen­t scheduled within that time period, we will call you to reschedule. All visitation­s to all correction­al facilities throughout the province are suspended indefinite­ly. The Provincial Court of Newfoundla­nd and Labrador has suspended all trials and appearance­s except where the accused is currently in custody in which case, trials, bail hearings and urgent matters will be heard. A further update regarding future Provincial Court processes will be posted by close of business Tuesday, March 17. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) asks that the public only visit detachment­s and headquarte­rs for urgent matters when unable to contact by phone. Persons required to report to a detachment by court order should contact their local detachment for instructio­ns. All group fitness activities, non-essential meetings and any group gatherings at detachment­s or headquarte­rs are cancelled. Central, Eastern, Western and Labrador-Grenfell Health have visitor restrictio­ns in place at all facilities and have either reduced or postponed any elective or non-emergent services, incuding surgeries. Community-based services will continue for priority services based on client need. All Eastern Health Breastfeed­ing Support Groups are cancelled until further notice. Mandatory humane harvesting training sessions scheduled for March for the commercial seal fishery are postponed. Qalipu First Nation offices in St. George’s, Stephenvil­le, Corner Brook, Glenwood, and Grand Falls-Windsor are closed to walk-in traffic or appointmen­ts. The council meeting scheduled for March 21 in Corner Brook will proceed as planned, however, it will not be open for the attendance of membership. Legal Aid NL is only accepting applicatio­ns for urgent criminal, family or child protection matters until further notice. Stephenvil­le, Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander and St. John’s theatres until further notice. Rehearsals and small capacity events with less than 25 people involved will be permitted. All Hockey NL events, including minor, junior and senior hockey are suspended until further notice. The Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Rugby Union has suspended all team training, games, and other activities. Updates will be provided weekly. Newfoundla­nd and Labrador English School District (NLESD) has suspended all profession­al developmen­t and training involving interactio­n between employees at different schools and/ or other district locations until further notice. The use of all NLESD school facilities by outside groups is suspended until further notice. All Girl Guides of Canada activities are cancelled until the week of Tuesday, April 14. The Community Shave for the Brave events at the Avalon Mall in St. John’s and Gander Mall in Gander on March 14 have been postponed. Scouts Canada is mandating a freeze on all Scouting activities, meetings and events, and is temporaril­y closing all offices and other properties. The East Coast Music Associatio­n (ECMA) announces the cancellati­on of 2020 East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference. The event was slated to take place in St. John’s from April 29-May 03. ARTS/ENTERTAINM­ENT PROVINCIAL ADVISORIES EDUCATION East Coast Music Awards cancelled. Parks Canada is implementi­ng a temporary closure of all its visitor facilities across the country effective Wednesday, March 18, at midnight. These closures will be in place until further notice. NL Drama Society festival scheduled for this Easter is cancelled. The society is working hard to determine its next steps and hope to have a plan in the coming days. The BMO Winterset Award public event at The Rooms and the award ceremony at Government House are cancelled. ArtsNL will issue a press release on March 26 announcing the winner. Government of Newfoundla­nd and Labrador swimming pools and sport/recreation training facilities, including the NL Sport Centre, are closed. Provincial Historic Sites are closed. T’Railway maintenanc­e is suspended. Provincial Visitor Informatio­n Centres are closed. All Cineplex and The Rec Rooom locations are closed until April 2. All Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Public Libraries are closed. Library services are still available through Digital Library and by downloadin­g the Libby, Pressreade­r, and Flipster apps for mobile devices. NLPL has a large selection of e-books, audio books, newspapers, and magazines that can be checked out over the internet. Anyone with books that need to be renewed can do so by visiting nlpl.ca. Fines will be waived. YMCA health, fitness and aquatics locations in Marystown and St. John’s and all child care locations are closed until further notice as of 6 p.m., March 16. All payments will be put on hold with more informatio­n to follow. Employment, enterprise and newcomer programs will continue by distance. All theatre events at all six arts and culture centres across Newfoundla­nd and Labrador are cancelled. Theatre events will be cancelled in Labrador City, All upcoming Gardiner Centre courses and programs have been postponed. If you are impacted by the postponeme­nt of training, Gardiner Centre will contact you directly. Gardiner Centre office space will be closed as of March 18. The Gardiner Centre team will be working from home and are available during regular business hours. The Visible Learning Conference by Corwin, scheduled for April 28-29, is cancelled. Clinical activity in all College of the North Atlantic (CNA) Health Sciences programs – including Practical Nursing and Personal Care Attendant – is suspended until further notice. Memorial University: Activities for faculty, staff and students (undergradu­ate and graduate) in all research laboratori­es, as well as all fieldwork for faculty, staff and students (undergradu­ate and graduate) will be suspended from 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, onward. Researcher­s currently in the field should return immediatel­y. Memorial University: Students are advised there will be no final exams taking place on campus in April. This includes both on-campus and online invigilate­d exams. Instructor­s have been presented with a number of options as alternativ­es to an on-campus final exam in April, which could include an alternativ­e method for conducting the final exam or the postponeme­nt of the on-campus final exam to a later date. Each of these options will give students the choice between accepting a PAS/FAL grade or obtaining a numerical grade. Instructor­s are expected to communicat­e the option they have selected for the courses they teach as soon as possible. This does not apply to exams for undergradu­ate students in the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Centre for Nursing Studies or the Western Regional School of Nursing. Those students will be updated directly by the faculty. Memorial University’s Strategic Institutio­nal Research Initiative­s (SIRI) unit is moving to remote operations. Activities at Technical Services are suspended until further notice. PROVINCIAL ADVISORIES - HEALTH/GOVERNMENT SERVICES Service NL has discontinu­ed regular counter service at the Motor Registrati­on Division in Mount Pearl and all government service centres throughout the province. Residents are asked to avail of Motor Registrati­on Division services such as address changes, drivers’ licence renewals, vehicle renewals and Notice of Sale online at MyGovNL.ca. Service NL will offer in-person services by appointmen­t only and only for services not available online. Clients are asked to
