Green Bay residents invited to celebrate Labour Day weekend on Long Island
The Long Island Heritage Society is inviting people — particularly those in the Green Bay area — to visit the island this weekend.
To help celebrate the Labour Day weekend, the community has come together to plan several events and activities through Saturday and Sunday.
Take the short ferry ride to the island and enjoy such things as a barbecue, yard sale fundraiser, visit the Heritage Museum and the Heritage Church, and take a walk on the community walking trail.
According to the online ferry schedule, the ferry from Pilley’s Island to Long Island departs six times Saturday between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. The return voyage is also scheduled six times daily. On Sunday, the six crossings from Pilley’s Island run between 10:30 a.m. and 8:50 p.m., while there are seven return trips.
Visitors from away can stay overnight at one of the three tourist homes on the island.
