BAIE VERTE, NL — The Copper Ridge Academy school community and residents of Baie Verte came together recently to participate in annual Terry Fox runs.

The school collected $2,037 Friday, surpassing their goal of $1,000 by far. Students collected pledges, and those with the most generated were given the opportunity to sink their teachers in the dunk tank.

On Sunday, the official day of the Terry Fox Run, there was 29 participants in the annual public event, which raised $255. The community run is organized each year in Baie Verte by Trish Smith as part of her Team Cle effort in memory of her brother Cleon Smith of St. Anthony. Ellie Quigley, sporting her sticker, was one of the few students to participate in both the Copper Ridge Academy and community events.
