Lo­cal run­ners give it all at cross-coun­try run­ning provin­cials

In­dian River High se­nior girls fin­ish third

GAN­DER, NL — A bal­anced team ef­fort helped the In­dian River High se­nior girls to a third­place show­ing in the se­nior girls pro­vin­cial cross-coun­try run­ning com­pe­ti­tion in Gan­der this past week­end.

Springdale girls Mikayla Tuck, Jes­sica Ja­cobs and Maria Lawlor fin­ished the race in 14th, 15th, and 16th po­si­tions. Team­mates Cier­ara Chat­man placed 20th and Me­gan Pad­dock fin­ished 22nd.

The se­nior boys out of In­dian River High fin­ished as the fourth place team. Joey Sparkes was the best fin­isher of the group, plac­ing 16th. Mitchell Down­ton was 19th, Kyle Tuck was 28th, Aaron Saun­ders 29th, and Matt Locke was 35th. Ben­jamin Tiz­zard of Dorset Col­le­giate in Pil­ley’s Is­land fin­ished the race in 7th place.

The ju­nior girls team out of In­dian River High also fin­ished fourth in the com­pe­ti­tion. Cassie Hewlett was the team’s top per­former, plac­ing 17th. Brooke Clarke fin­ished 22nd, Kylea Keough was 24th, Re­becca North­cotte 26th, and Al­lie Ann Ox­ford was 34th. Sarah War­ren of Dorset Col­le­giate fin­ished 29th.

The Dorset Col­le­giate ju­nior boys ran their way to a fourth place fin­ish. Jesse Short had the best in­di­vid­ual per­for­mance on the team with an 11th place fin­ish. Lo­gan Col­bourne placed

26th, Carter Walters was 29th, and Ashton Black­ler was 34th. Kae­lan Ride­out of Val­mont Academy in King’s Point had a

28th place fin­ish.
