Dorset Col­le­giate ath­letes shine at table ten­nis cham­pi­onship

PILLEY’S IS­LAND, NL — Ath­letes from the Dorset Col­le­giate Table Ten­nis Club are off to a good start this sea­son by earn­ing sev­eral ti­tles at the Avalon New­found­land and Labrador Open Table Ten­nis Cham­pi­onships at the Par­adise Youth and Com­mu­nity Cen­tre this past week­end.

Seven mem­bers of the team at­tended the event.

Sarah War­ren earned a gold medal in the fe­male U-18 sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion, while plac­ing se­cond in the women’s sin­gles event. She nabbed first place in both the New­found­land and Labrador team qual­i­fier and the Canada Games qual­i­fier.

Kar­lee War­ren took sil­ver in the fe­male U-18 sin­gles event, sil­ver in the “E” sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion, and se­cond in both the New­found­land and Labrador Team qual­i­fier and Canada Games qual­i­fier.

Laura Cal­la­han won gold in the “E” sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion and placed third in both the New­found­land and Labrador team qual­i­fier and Canada Games qual­i­fier.

Ty Win­sor won gold in the male U-18 sin­gles event and took sil­ver in male U-40 sin­gles. He earned first place in both the New­found­land and Labrador Team qual­i­fier and Canada Games qual­i­fier.

Ri­ley Vin­cent won sil­ver in the male U-18 sin­gles event and a gold medal in the “D” sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion. He placed se­cond in both the New­found­land and Labrador Team qual­i­fier and Canada Games qual­i­fier.
