One of our finest playwrights, Judith Thompson works creatively in a number of ways, including developing new talent as a prof at the University of Guelph.
Several years ago she collaborated with a group of women to write about issues of body image and self-esteem, shaping the script Body And Soul that they performed. At last year’s Next Stage, she used the same process to share the stories of young people dealing with chronic illness; the acclaimed result was The Grace Project.
Now Thompson’s working with nine people with Down syndrome who will share their experiences in a work called Rare. It’s sure to be moving, dramatic and uplifting.
From July 5 at the Tarragon Mainspace.
