Walk into Aprile’s and step back in time to the clas­sic Mom and Pop Ital­ian. From the red vinyl kitchen chairs and to the vin­tage Ital­ian Amer­i­can Al­bum cov­ers on the wall, the whole feel is fa­mil­iar and homey kitsch. And that homey good­ness ex­tends to the food! For starters, try the grilled Cae­sar with pancetta. Piz­zas are made us­ing “00” flour im­ported from Italy to en­sure a light, tasty crust. There are the clas­sic of­fer­ings as well as piz­zas like pear, wal­nut, gor­gonzola or an im­pec­ca­ble wild mush­room. You’ll also find tra­di­tional pas­tas done well with the stand­out be­ing a home­made pap­pardelle with slow cooked beef cheek, burnt but­ter and pinenuts. A bou­tique se­lec­tion of beers in­clud­ing Peroni is of­fered. Aprile’s wine list is sim­ple, well-cho­sen and very af­ford­able. Per­fect for ca­sual date night or a fam­ily meal.
