André Turpin is the gifted cinematographer who shot Denis Villeneuve’s Maelström and Incendies and Xavier Dolan’s Mommy, among many others. Endorphine marks a rare venture into the director’s chair, where he hasn’t sat since 2001’s striking Un Crabe Dans La Tête. Co-written by Robert Morin, it’s an experimental narrative following

three women named Simone ( Sophie Nélisse, Mylène MacKay and Lise Roy) through what TIFF describes as “a labyrinthine meta-world where timeframes overlap, characters multiply and stories repeat and expand.” I’m so there.
