August 21 Canadian National Exhibition (200 Princes’ Blvd)
For once, the summer skies over Toronto will be going dark for a reason other than an afternoon rain shower. The first solar eclipse visible from North America since 1979 takes place at 1:10 pm on August 21 and will reach maximum coverage by 2:32 pm. If you want to be informed (and wearing special glasses) while viewing, astronomers from the Dunlap Institute will be at the Ex to answer all your eclipse-related questions. The event is free with CNE admission. $15-$19, passes $42-$61. 10 am-5 pm. theex.com.
