For once, the sum­mer skies over Toronto will be go­ing dark for a rea­son other than an af­ter­noon rain shower. The first so­lar eclipse vis­i­ble from North Amer­ica since 1979 takes place at 1:10 pm on Au­gust 21 and will reach max­i­mum cov­er­age by 2:32 pm. If you want to be in­formed (and wear­ing spe­cial glasses) while view­ing, as­tronomers from the Dun­lap In­sti­tute will be at the Ex to an­swer all your eclipse-re­lated ques­tions. The event is free with CNE ad­mis­sion. $15-$19, passes $42-$61. 10 am-5 pm.
