Friday-Sunday (August 24-26), Harbourfront Centre

NOW Magazine - - TIPSHEET -

The largest Taiwanese festival in Canada returns to Harbourfront Centre for three days of food, music, dance, poetry and film. Now in its 29th year, Taiwanfest focuses on nurturing cultural connections between other Asian countries, with an emphasis on the Philippines this year. In between gulps of bubble tea and bites of adobo chicken, enjoy live entertainment from Taiwanese cellist Jamie Chan, neo-Filipino folk-dance troupe HATAW and the

Auba Rukai Children’s Choir, which hails from the Rukai indigenous tribe in Taiwan and performs ancestral folk songs in traditional costume. Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay W). Free. taiwanfest.ca.
