Two sexual assaults and one related suspicious incident
All three events occurred the early morning of April 27. The first regarded a woman, age 22, being followed by a suspicious male from Hurdman Station to a school in the 200 block of Knox Avenue. The woman was not approached, but the suspect was observed to enter the school. Less than a half hour later, in the 1600 block of Dorion Avenue, a 19-year-old woman was approached from behind, and the male suspect proceeded to pull her pants down. A struggle ensued, and the male walked calmly away. Not long after, a 41-year-old woman was victimized in the same manner while walking on Industrial Avenue near Alta Vista Drive. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’6", 20-25 years, medium build, short black hair, wearing a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap. quickly through wall and ceiling into attic and roof. A search proved that all 17 residents were out, and two dogs and two cats were rescued from the building. All missing pets were located later. While fire damage may have been contained to the third floor and roof area, there was significant damage to the lower level units due to water and smoke. Investigators have concluded that an improperly discarded cigarette was the probable cause. Evidence showed that the fire started on the third floor balcony and spread to the interior of the unit and into the attic area. Damage estimates are $2,000,000 to the building and $250,000 to contents. Four firefighters suffered minor injuries.
