A day to re­mem­ber miss­ing chil­dren

May 25 has been de­clared miss­ing chil­dren’s day, a day to in­ter­na­tion­ally rec­og­nize and re­mem­ber miss­ing chil­dren all across North Amer­ica. The Ot­tawa Po­lice Miss­ing Per­sons Sec­tion works in part­ner­ship with sev­eral agen­cies, in­clud­ing the Cana­dian Cen­tre for Child Pro­tec­tion and their pro­gram, Miss­ingKids.ca. Miss­ingKids pro­vides ser­vices to help lo­cate miss­ing chil­dren and to sup­port fam­i­lies pro­vid­ing ed­u­ca­tion and re­sources. On May 24, the Cana­dian Cen­tre for Child Pro­tec­tion launched a new ser­vice to as­sist in the lo­ca­tion of miss­ing chil­dren, a web­site, www.miss­ingkid­salert. ca, that will alert par­tic­i­pat­ing cit­i­zens when their help is needed in a miss­ing child case. Ot­tawaOr­léans MP Royal Gali­peau marked the Na­tional Day by at­tend­ing an assem­bly at Good Shep­herd School.
