Ontario Trillium Foundation and City of Ottawa grants for Orléans Festival
well as to strengthen organizational capacity to support the Festival’s growth into the future.
"The Orléans Festival is without a doubt a major event in promoting the creativity of our community, Ottawa-Orléans, and I welcome the leading role it plays," said MPP Phil McNeely.
This year’s OTF funding will support a widevariety of activities, ranging from programming expenses to volunteer training, to advertising and equipment rentals.
Through the City of Ottawa’s 2012 Partnership Program for Major Festivals and Fairs, the Orléans Festival will receive $7,000 in funding.
"Ottawa is renowned for its many prominent and successful festivals," said Mayor Jim Watson. "The City is proud to support the Orléans community and the Orléans Festival, which continues to showcase some of our region’s best talent while bringing friends and families together throughout the fun filled weekend in June."
The OTF and City of Ottawa grants come on the heels of Ottawa—Orléans Member of Parliament Royal Galipeau’s confirmation, last month, that the Festival will be receiving $9,000 in Canadian Heritage funding under the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage Program.
"The Orléans Festival is truly blessed to receive such fantastic support from our MP Royal Galipeau, MPP Phil McNeely, Mayor Jim Watson and City Councillors Bob Monette, Stephen Blais, Rainer Bloess and Tim Tierney," said Poirier. "Thanks to the financial support of all three levels of government, we’ve been able to leverage private-sector sponsorship to put on what will undoubtedly be the best Orléans Festival yet."
Taking to the Orléans Festival’s stages this year will be headliners The Dusty Drifters, Yves Lambert, Tracteur Jack and Born Ruffians. The 2012 Orléans Festival will feature a total of 40 performances, 30 visual artists, 15 artisans, and 5 culinary events, all supported by over 50 local sponsors.
