Ottawa Po­lice warns lo­cal busi­nesses about sus­pi­cious calls so­lic­it­ing fi­nan­cial sup­port

The Ottawa Po­lice Ser­vice is ad­vis­ing the pub­lic and lo­cal busi­nesses about fraud­u­lent so­lic­i­ta­tion that has been seen in Ottawa. Some­one, claim­ing to be an em­ployee of Crime Sense Mag­a­zine is call­ing lo­cal busi­nesses and so­lic­it­ing fi­nan­cial sup­port or seek­ing ad­ver­tis­ers for Crime­sense Mag­a­zine or Po­lice Mag­a­zine. The own­ers of Crime­sense Mag­a­zine have con­firmed to Ottawa Po­lice that they have no such pro­gram in place and are con­cerned that Ottawa busi­nesses are be­ing tar­geted. Crime­sense Mag­a­zine has placed an alert about this fraud­u­lent so­lic­i­ta­tion on their web­site and also with the Bet­ter Busi­ness Bureau.
