AOE Lights Up the Night at the Shenkman Arts Centre
ARTinis and Appetizers coming to Orléans Nov. 7
Considered a "not-to-be-missed" annual fundraising event for the Ottawa art community, the 2013 edition of AOE Arts Council’s ARTinis and Appetizers will illuminate both the upper and lower lobbies of the Shenkman Arts Centre, On Nov.7.
"We wanted to put artists front and centre during the event to share their vision with our guests," says Cassandra Olsthoorn, AOE’s program coordinator. "This light exhibit pushes the boundaries of our evening and demonstrates innovation and creative use of the spaces here at the Centre."
New this year will be two furnished lounges by Décorléans and an opportunity to sample cheese and Ontario wines expertly paired by Savvy Company sommeliers.
Foodies will not be disappointed or have to wait in long lines for savoury and sweet bites prepared by Grenfell Catering, Cuisine & Passion, Bowich Best Organic Sandwich and Epicuria.
Once again there will be a chance to win two Porter Airlines tickets and opportunities to bid on a diverse selection of silent auction items.
Five local artists will be lighting up the night: Darryl Hall, Ian Matthews, Karen Goetzinger, Jennifer Stewart and Michael Parkin.
In its sixth year, AOE’s premier fundraiser provides artists and art lovers a chance to mingle with business and community leaders to show their support for AOE Arts Council and its members.
AOE Arts Council has been serving the arts community for 25 years. As a not-forprofit charitable organization, AOE acknowledges the generosity of its donors, funders and partners who assist the Council in promoting, supporting and developing the arts in Ottawa. AOE represents a membership of 458 artists, organizations and supporters.
This year, AOE hopes to meet its goal of $45,000 to fund opportunities for local artists and to support Ottawa’s vibrant arts community.
