Ottawa Business Journal - BOMA Magazine - - President’s Message -

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2014 BOMA Commercial Space Directory. As always BOMA is proud to put this publication together with our partners the Ottawa Business Journal. This publication is not only distributed by the Ottawa Business Journal, but given to delegates at the Ottawa Real Estate Forum , which BOMA is proud to support. Additionally it is sent to all local, provincial and federal politicians that represent our fine city and finally given as a guide to the Commercial Real Estate Industry in Ottawa.

The Commercial Space Directory is a traditional part of our annual BOMA program, and we hope to continue to produce the Directory for many years to come, but only doing what we have done before is not enough for BOMA, its Board of Directors or its members.

In 2014 BOMA reached out to its members to ask what it was they wanted from their Association and in the years to come. Much of what we learned we could see in the interaction of our members within BOMA, but other things we learned were new to us.

We are excited by the opportunity to respond to both our members and the industry’s ever emerging needs. Our members clearly communicated that they count on BOMA to tell them things they don’t know, but are very specific that we should be Ottawa Centric in our information gathering.

Our members told us they want to know what BOMA is doing, as we do it, and why. It isn’t enough to tell members the prevailing industry position on a subject, we should be informing them of all positions so they can make informed choices.

In the months to come, and stretching into 2015, you’ll see many changes at BOMA, with a new website, new communiqués, applications and functions as well as advances into social media and mobile applications. Watch for BOMA to become even more involved in City planning and using our relationship with the City of Ottawa to have our members’ voices heard. We will also be making calls for new volunteers to examine changes in Technology, Public Policy and Industry Best Practices, especially as they affect the Ottawa Commercial Real Estate Industry.

Our members are amongst the most trained, professional and qualified people in any industry, and they look to BOMA to help them stay that way and to carry their industry flag proudly. We are up for the challenge, and with our industry partners’ plan to not disappoint.

As always we hope you find the 2014 Directory useful and interesting. Steve Nicoletti President, BOMA Ottawa
