If you’ve set your sights to the south, look no further than charming Kemptville, home of the branch restaurant. About forty minutes from downtown Ottawa, Kemptville boasts numerous tourist attractions including the Rideau River Provincial Park and several golf courses. It’s also a popular stopping point for visitors returning from Kingston or Upper Canada Village.

Billed as one of the region’s finest establishments for organic and local foods, the branch is an omnivore’s delight. Tasty vegetarian dishes share the menu with gourmet burgers and other family-friendly fare - think well-travelled comfort food. While there is a kids’ menu at the branch, chef and co-owner Bruce Enloe is also pleased to provide a reduced portion of most regular items for pint-sized diners.

The branch takes its commitment to running a market-driven kitchen very seriously. “Every item on the menu has a story,” explains Bruce. “For example, the meat for our popular burgers comes from a local farm – the buns are made in the wood-fired oven at Grahame’s Bakery, using locally-grown and milled organic flour. We were responsible for reviving Kemptville’s Farmers’ Market so we take great pride in showcasing regional ingredients, including Beau’s beer.”
