who: Gendron Antiques & Reproductions. where: 1145 Carp Rd, Stittsville. what: An eclectic mix of antiques, reproduction and one-of-a-kind furniture. They all come together in a barn-inspired space that spans over 10,000 square feet. Ever wonder what can be done with an old door that is too charming to put at the curb, or a dresser that is too beat up to use but too precious to toss? The talented Gendrons bring old pieces to life and add charm to their newly-built furniture. With a philosophy that stems from having fun with furnishings, this unique store is a destination for shoppers with a taste for whimsical, high-quality goods that look like they have a story to tell. behind the scenes: Line and Mark Gendron could only fight the inner furniture retailer in each of them for so long. While they were both raised in families who made a living in the business, the couple took their careers in different directions, but they couldn’t deny their roots forever. Finally, what was a hobby for Mark turned into a booming business: buying and selling antiques; making custom pieces; and offering refinishing and design services. Son Nick accepted his true calling right away, and works with his parents in the business as a fine craftsman designing and building furniture with talent and precision.
