Maureen Coates’ natural cottage flair.

The setting dictates the style, architecture and decor of a cottage. For example, our cottage is set in a partially-wooded, rustic area – therefore, the log cottage and the decor reflect that.

— Maureen Coates

For interior decorator Maureen Coates, the log home she and her husband Mike built on Centennial Lake is a retreat for their family. While they bought the property in 2000, they researched and waited five years before beginning construction of their “Discovery Dream Homes” cottage.

As a decorator, Maureen made modifications to the plan and, as a wife, she adjusted her own ideas to meet her husband half way on a few issues. The result is a décor that showcases some masculine influences with Maureen’s talented touches for the overall effect. Together, they have created a relaxed family living space that is well-thought out and dressed up with the flair of a professional.
