Women as­saulted, po­lice seek info

Ottawa po­lice are seek­ing the pub­lic’s as­sis­tance to iden­tify sus­pects that may have been in­volved in a Sept. 8 as­sault that took place along Rideau Street. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, at around 7:40 p.m. that day, the two fe­male vic­tims en­tered a fast­food restau­rant lo­cated near the Rideau Cen­tre in down­town Ottawa. The two vic­tims en­coun­tered a group of 11 men and women inside the es­tab­lish­ment. They de­cided to leave. Once out­side, they re­al­ized they had been fol­lowed by mem­bers of the large group. A con­fronta­tion be­tween the vic­tims and the at­tack­ers es­ca­lated into an as­sault, in which one of the vic­tims had a hand­bag taken.
