Stabbing suspect prompts standoff
A 33-year-old man was to face a number of charges in Gatineau court Friday after an early-morning stabbing led to a four-hour standoff with police. Police were called at about 1 a.m. to a residence on rue Dollard-des- Ormeaux, near the Portage Bridge in the Hull district. At the scene, they found the 27-year-old victim with stab wounds to the arm. She was taken to hospital, treated and released. The suspect refused to leave the residence and the building was surrounded by police, including tactical squad officers. Traffic along Maisonneuve Boulevard was blocked. The man finally surrendered just before 5 a.m.
