We need more de­tail on where ticks Are

Re: Three in 10 ticks pos­i­tive for Lyme, u Ot­tawa re­search shows, Oct. 5.

I con­tinue to read with in­ter­est the var­i­ous re­ports about tick in­fec­tion rates, the sam­pling method and that sam­pling is on­go­ing. We are told num­bers are grow­ing and ar­eas are ex­pand­ing. What we are not told, how­ever, is where the ar­eas are lo­cated other than “around Ot­tawa.”

To be of any use to the pub­lic, the spe­cific lo­ca­tions are nec­es­sary, along with tick in­fec­tion rates in each area. Only then can one make an in­formed de­ci­sion to avoid those lo­ca­tions be­cause of the height­ened risk po­ten­tial. Eric R. Stephen, M.Sc., Ot­tawa
