Crews says he was groped by ‘Hollywood exec’

Ottawa Sun - - SHOWBIZ -

The sexual harassment scandal surrounding producer Harvey Weinstein is bringing back bad memories for movie tough guy Terry Crews because he was also “groped” by a Hollywood executive.

The Expendables star opened up about his own experiences with sexual assault in a series of Twitter posts, when he offered up his thoughts on the decades of inappropriate behaviour reportedly displayed by Harvey towards a number of actresses, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, and Mira Sorvino, who have all publicly called out Weinstein’s bad behaviour following the initial New York Times expose published last week.

“This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD,” Crews began. “Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME.

“My wife n I were at a Hollywood function last year n a high level Hollywood executive came over 2 me and groped my privates (sic),” he continued. “Jumping back I said What are you doing?! My wife saw everything n we looked at him like he was crazy. He just grinned like a jerk... I was going to kick his ass right then – but I thought twice about how the whole thing would appear (in the press).”

Instead, Crews and his wife Rebecca KingCrews decided to leave the party, because the former football playerturned-actor didn’t want to do something he would live to regret.

The industry executive, who was not identified, ended up calling Crews and apologizing the following day, “But never really explained why he did what he did.” Crews confesses he kept the rude encounter a secret because he didn’t want to risk losing his career, and because of his own experience with leery Hollywood bosses, he sympathizes with other female victims of sexual assault or harassment. “I decided not 2 take it further becuz I didn’t want 2b ostracized — par 4 the course when the predator has power n influence (sic),” he continued. “I let it go. And I understand why many women who this happens to let it go.”

He isn’t the only actor to fall victim to sexual harassment in Hollywood — comedian Rob Schneider also claims he endured a disturbing meeting early on in his career with a famous male director, who greeted him at the door in a bathrobe and then humiliated him.

“He’s asking me to crawl on the ground and crawl towards him,” Schneider recalled to TMZ.
