CANADA’S CLAIMS TO FAME Our great country is home to lots of interesting people and places, some famous, others well- kept secrets.

Our Canada - - Bulletin Board -

With Halloween just around the corner, we thought we’d look into some haunted locales in Canada. One we came across is the Maritime Museum located in Victoria’s well-known Bastion Square. The museum was once the site of the city’s jail and gallows, and legend has it that many of the men who were hanged from the tree beside it remain buried beneath the foundation. Some say that if you look through the windows at the museum’s entrance, a shadowy, slender, bearded figure can be spotted gliding down the main staircase. The mysterious apparition is thought to be the ghost of Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie, Victoria’s infamous “Hanging Judge.” Spooky!
